DJAM - third edition out now!

I've already talked about the DJAM magazine here before. It is a very good magazine exclusively about jazz and the jazz scene in France. It is published and distributed in Paris mostly but it will soon be distributed in Belgium and Canada also.
As I was saying in my last post about the magazine, the print is excellent, it has the right size, right weight and the articles are great. This new edition is focusing on the connection between jazz and technology.

If you want to get your hands on your own copy, you can go here.

DJAM - second edition out now!

I have not been posting much lately, I have had a lot on my hands. Many projects happening at the same time and not enough free time to do what I'd like to do (you know that feeling, I am sure...).
Among those different projects, there was this one really interesting collaboration with the DJAM magazine. I sent them my Billie Holiday drawing for the cover and they included an add for jazz and draw in their pages.
They  sent me a copy of it and I have to say it is very good. The print is excellent, right size, right weight and the articles are great. This edition was focusing on women in the jazz scene.

If you want to get your hands on your own copy, you can go here.
And if you feel like helping them publishing, here is the place to donate.

200th post - Keith Jarrett

As promised in my 100th post, we did go for another hundred images. To make this 200th post special and not be unfair to anyone, I give you my all time favourite piece. It could be considered more classic than jazzy, it remains a very special and unique piece. I have listened to this piece about a zillion times. Can't get enough of it. Enjoy it.

And here we go for another hundred images...

Yai, an exhibition again! This time, I am the one showing my work with Blaise thanks to this blog again. We are setting up an exhibition of our jazz paintings - only big formats, the two images you see here both measure at least 1 meter. The show takes place during a small jazz festival at l'abbaye de Stavelot.

100th post - Bobby McFerrin

This is the 100th post already!
Thank you all for your fidelity and your support.

Since I felt this could not pass unnoticed, and since I thought placing someone's image today would be unfair to all the other paritcipants, I decided to post a few videos of one of my favourite singer. I was hoping to get a portrait of him to post but it never came (I'll have to do it myself one of these days). He is probably the only person I know of who is able to make a crowd sing on the right tone (as shown on third the video). This might not be jazzy enough for everyone but by now you probably noticed the musical scope of the blog is quite wide. Hope you like it as much as I do. Enjoy.

And now we're going for another hundred images!

Jazz and draw takes another week of vacation

I am taking another week of vacation this coming week and again will not be able to post. As I did last time, I post now a few images all done by the same person. He is French originally but lives in Belgium for some time now, he will be exhibiting his work together with Yves Budin and Blaise Dehon very soon and he's got some very funny pictures. His name is Jampur Fraize and he's got an unusual outlook on jazz.
Enjoy, and see you in a week,

Philippe.

He sent me some of the pieces he presented at this exhibition. Hope you like them.
